As a Butterfly: Living with Turner Syndrome
Living life as a butterfly…
My daughter,Rhea, was just diagnosed with Turner’s Syndrome. We had some problems during my pregnancy which led to closer monitoring of her in utero, examination of her heart after she was born, and subsequent chromosome testing. She is only 5 months old, and at this time I am determined to get as much information about Turner’s Syndrome so that I can help her succeed in all that she may want to do in the future. As a mother I am so scared for this uncertain future, and what this diagnosis may entail for my precious baby. Is there any advice you can give me, or experiences that you don’t mind sharing? We got the confirmation of the diagnosis earlier this week, and it is still sinking in for us as a family.
Hi. I can’t emphasize enough how much it is going to benefit Rhea that you are learning as much as you can NOW while she is young. That is the best thing you can do right now. I decided to write a post for parents of newly diagnosed turner syndrome patients here . I was not diagnosed until I was 12 so many problems were not caught early. Please read that article and feel free to contact me with any specific questions you may have. Thank you so much for your comment!
